Unipart Rail works with customer to improve trackside maintenance

April 20th, 2023 Elliott Abdey

Unipart Rail is working with customer Torrent Trackside to provide a better service for trackside maintenance teams.

By implementing a stores facility and auto-replenishment solution, Unipart Rail increased component availability to 99.7% over the last 12 months.

Andy Waring, Torrent Trackside Operations Manager, said: “We've had a 33% saving on the time it takes us to repair assets, and we've also seen a reduction in the cost of spares of 24% year to year. It's given us a real-time look at how much our assets are costing us to maintain. It's a big improvement for our customer and for us.”

Dominic Stubbs, Unipart Rail Head of Business Development, said: “When we were first approached, the managing director asked us to deliver certainty. Certainty of material supply gives them certainty to deliver the contracts that they hold with their customers. And with that fantastic availability level, we've been able to achieve that.”
