Mark in Action Winners’ Stories: China's Story

A team from Unipart Logistics in China was recognised for their fantastic dedication to promoting Unipart’s ‘Race to Zero’ commitment in their local community.
The ‘Shouzou Marathon Team’ took it upon themselves to volunteer their time and energy to highlight global climate change issues and Unipart's commitment to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040 at the city’s marathon event. (The team consisted of Nina Zhang, Daliang Huang, David Gao, Rachel Liu, Anna Zhang, Nancy Jiang, Lucy Duan and ZiJun Li)
In advance of the event the team prepared a raft of promotional materials, including t-shirts, pop up banners and flags, as well as flyers which contained a QR code to download Unipart’s Race to Zero brochure.
On the day of the marathon the team spent hours of their own time talking to members of the public about the issues. They also gave out the flyers, as well as hundreds of strawberry and tomato plants, to encourage simple actions individuals can take to support sustainability, and sports energy drinks for those taking part in the marathon.

Outstanding commitment to Unipart’s sustainability commitments
Nominator Nick Porter, Asia Pacific Operations Director and General Manager for China, said, ““I have been so impressed by the dedication and commitment of these colleagues who gave up a full day of their weekend volunteering in their own time - the feedback was the public were really engaged and keen to engage.
“The team perform a range of different roles from Warehouse Administrator to Business Unit Director, and are truly passionate about supporting not only Unipart’s sustainability commitment but how we can all work together to help to combat climate change.
“The team really demonstrates Unipart’s commitment to CSR and our Race to Zero campaign. They have been proactive throughout the year in organising a number of other events, and recently supported a Cycle to Work initiative to promote sustainable forms of travel, both inside and outside of work.
“I know their infectious passion for the issue will benefit all our colleagues, the communities we operate in and our customers.
“I am proud to represent this dedicated bunch of colleagues who are determined to deliver a more sustainable future for all of us, and I'd like to congratulate them on their Mark in Action Award!”
