Celebrating 50 Years with NHS: A look back at recent events across our NHS sites.

This past month, our NHS teams and sites across various locations have celebrated Unipart’s 50th anniversary with a series of events.

NHSSC Network Operations: Learning and Celebration

Our NHSSC Network Ops team gathered for a productive meeting that included facilitator training, followed by a lively celebration of Unipart’s 50th anniversary. The event featured a quiz on Unipart’s history, with the General Manager table emerging victorious and walking away with a huge bag of M&M's as their prize.

Rugby: Captured the day

Over 200 colleagues joined in on Rugby’s event celebrating Unipart's 50th birthday! The event started with the animated video followed by a BBQ. With plenty of activities and food to enjoy including, cake, drinks, music, quiz, raffle and the ‘World Tour’ card games. They even had the local Fire Brigade join in. Alfreton: A Day of Games, BBQ, and CARE Awards

At our Alfreton site, the 50th-anniversary celebrations were in full swing with a day packed with activities. From a BBQ to raffles and games, the event was a hit with all 223 colleagues who attended. A special highlight was the 'wet sponge challenge,' where Richard Hind, Stuart Cooper, and Paul Shaw gamely participated, much to everyone’s delight.

The event also included the presentation of CARE Awards to deserving colleagues, including Sally McKenna, Martin Leatherday, Graham Fisher, Karen Skinner, Dave Marsh, and Liam Whitehead, recognising their exceptional contributions. The celebrations extended across all shifts, with free hot food service, Unipart 50th-themed cupcakes, and a fancy dress competition for the night shift.

Gorsey Point Opens: A Family Fun Day to Remember

Gorsey Point combined its grand opening with the 50th celebrations. It gave everyone who attended the chance to learn about Unipart and its remarkable 50-year history. To celebrate both events, Gorsey Point threw a fantastic family fun day with over 300 colleagues and their families attending the event.

It was packed with activities like site tours, games, face painting, competitions, and of course, delicious food—pizza, samosas, ice creams, cakes, and sweets. The day was a hit with the kids, who enjoyed the inflatable games, colouring competitions, and even a visit from Neil Morris who dressed up as Darth Vader! The tombola was a crowd favourite, raising nearly £400 for Macmillan Cancer Support, as well as the team donating gardening equipment to St Patrick’s care home, where Neil Morris works.

Richard Holt, Network Operations Director said “The atmosphere was absolutely fantastic, welcoming and great fun with opportunities for friends and family to learn new facts about the Gorsey Point Operation and the NHS supply chain, making it a truly memorable day for all involved”.

The event was a success, with everyone appreciating the effort put into making it a memorable day for all. The site tours and quizzes were a great way to engage families and show off our workplace, while the kids loved their hi-vis vests and lanyards.

Andrew Jones, Senior HR Business Partner NHS reflected on the day saying “It was a great day and a big thanks to Lara Watson, Sheryl Davidson, Tommy Pringle, the tour guides and everyone involved in organising such a fab event. It only went so well because of all the hard work and thought the team put in leading up to the day”.
