Andy Pyne said: "I’ve been asked to talk about how I’ve been applying Covid-Secure measures outside of work, in fact when I went on holiday.
"I’ve recently returned from a holiday in Scotland, actually in the Highlands of Scotland, which was pretty remote so there weren’t many people there. However, before that I spent a few days in Edinburgh. I think the big difference it made this year, under a Covid-Secure world, was we spent a awful lot less time eating out and going out.
"I was with my daughter and some other members of our family. My daughter was particularly nervous about being in public as it was the first time she’d really spent time outdoors since the start of the pandemic.
"So what did we do? We wore our masks everywhere we went: on the street, in any shops we went into where it was compulsory. But I think wearing masks to walk around streets that were quite busy made us feel safer, and it felt like we were doing our best to protect ourselves.
"I think the other change we made was to spend a lot more time indoors as a family, eating at home, entertaining at home, which you may think is odd after we’ve spent so much time indoors, but we’re doing it in a different place and it made us feel a lot safer. And it made us have a better holiday in the end.
"Overall, we had a good time. We didn’t let Covid get in the way, but all the time we thought about the safety and the protection of ourselves and the people around us. I think it’s really important, whatever we do, in work or outside of work, we all look to do exactly the same thing."
