Whether you’re continuing to work on-site or now home-based, all of us are facing unprecedented pressure on ourselves.

We don’t know the full impact of these changes, but we do know a big adjustment is required by us all for the good of our physical and mental health wellbeing.

There is a lot of really good advice out there from experts in these areas, so we’ve collected a few of our favourites here to share with you.

Remember as a Unipart employee you get free access to a lot of resources and support on our employee assistance provider LifeWorks.

If you haven’t set up your profile yet here’s how you can do that.

We also encourage you to use Spark to share your ideas for keeping fit and healthy. We’ve set up a Covid-19 tag for this to make it easier to add - and find - the materials. We’ll monitor this for good ideas and links for this page.

Working from Home

It’s important to stay positive, healthy and productive. This blog by Unipart Consulting has all the tips you need for setting up a workstation at home - and managing your day.

LinkedIn has some useful courses to help you work out how to work well at home. Some of them are a little long but have ‘chapters’ so you can home-in on appropriate content.

And there's lots of help and tips available on our very own Unipart Way Online pages.

  • Government Advice Page. This has advice across the board for if you’re feeling anxious, losing sleep, missing social contact and fact-checking to protect yourself from fake news.
  • MIND advice page. The mental health charity has information on keeping mentally fit, and also what to do if you or someone you live with has (or suspects they have) the virus.
  • Are you feeling a bit ‘down’? Try the Action for Happiness webpage which is aimed at making participants and their families happier.

Physical Health Wellbeing

joe wicks

There are lots of health professionals who have moved their services online so you can continue your daily workout.

High-profile Joe Wicks is doing his workout for kids at 9am each day on his YouTube channel - you could join in too! You could also check out gyms and fitness instructors local to you that are doing online classes.

Government advice is to have one outdoor exercise session each day - walk, run, cycle. You can work this into your morning routine by making it your ‘commute’ to your home office.

Remember too, to take regular breaks from your screen to walk around or go outside for a few minutes.

For practical advice from people who know - try mumsnet.

Many of you have childcare responsibilities whilst you work from home. Some colleagues are staggering their working day with their partners so they have time for childcare. Speak to your line manager about what arrangements you can make.
