Kautex 'Seal the Deal' with their OCC
On the Jaguar XF Fuel tank assembly line at Kautex Unipart (KUL), the team were off target and needed to understand why. To enable them to properly define the problem and investigate the root cause of it, they formed an OCC which they called “Torque to me baby! Your failure drives me crazy!”
Using the failure data that they had, they quickly came up with a problem statement and after running some tests on the different fuel tank variants and capturing the data, they worked out that wear and tear on the machines themselves was causing part of the problem. The other cause they identified was that not all of the operators were following the correct seal fitting process.
This was one of three OCCs that won an award at a recent event at UMG.
