At Unipart, we know that putting The Unipart Way at the heart of everything we do to provide value for our people, performance and customers, delivers sustainable and profitable growth.

That's why this is the second strategic goal in The Unipart Way Forward strategy and there is a dedicated PDM aim to optimise the adoption of The Unipart Way in 2025.

The Unipart Way Programme Management Office (PMO) play a key role in ensuring that Unipart delivers on its aspirations and evolves what we do to achieve this PDM aim.

Darren Witcomb, Unipart Way Director, part of the PMO explains how they have evolved The Unipart Way Maturity Assessment for this reason:

What is The Unipart Way Maturity Assessment?

"The Unipart Way Maturity Assessment was introduced around 2 years ago - it is a set of questions designed to quickly assess how embedded The Unipart Way is in an area of the business - whether that be in a site, enabling function or even at a team level.

The Maturity Assessment aims to promote discussion, thinking and then action needed to further improve the adoption of The Unipart Way. This has been initially focused on improving Employee Engagement and Operational Excellence as the way we work.

We now have around 200 assessments being conducted regularly across Unipart - a fantastic result. But, more importantly, as a result of those assessments, we have seen an increased adoption of The Unipart Way across these areas, and our maturity rise from 54% when we started to 79% at the end of 2024."

How are you evolving this in 2025

"Throughout last year, the PMO have worked with a growth mindset, listened to our stakeholders and have taken some time to review The Unipart Way Maturity Assessment to ensure it can continue to support us to achieve our 2025 PDM aim of optimizing the adoption of The Unipart Way.

As a result we have refined it as follows

  • The questions have been reduced slightly to 20
  • The descriptors for the questions and the scoring criteria are now more detailed, and more challenging, to encourage deeper discussions
  • There is greater focus is applied to the application of The Unipart Way, and the benefits the area are seeing form that

In addition, the revised questions now require a fuller and broader assessment of how The Unipart Way is being demonstrated by colleagues to add value in:

  • the way they think (with a growth mindset)
  • the way they work (across all the four Unipart systems)
  • the way they behave (aligned to the CARE framework)

We believe this will continue to improve our adoption of The Unipart Way and drive higher performance - ultimately ensuring both existing and new customers want to work with us as their supply chain partner of choice.

We're excited that the new assessments commence this month and will continue throughout 2025 as we work together to maintain The Unipart Way at the heart of everything we do to drive growth!"
