Celebrating 75 Years of the NHS at Unipart Logistics

July 5th, 2023 Sally Romankiw

At Unipart, we are really proud of our unique partnership with the NHS Supply Chain over the last five years.

During this time, we have put the Unipart Way as the way we think, work and behave at the heart of the contract. This has resulted in us successfully supporting them through unprecedented demands of the pandemic, continually improving overall service and seamlessly delivering a number of transformation projects such as opening new sites at Suffolk Park in Bury St Edmunds, and most recently Gorsey Point in Widnes.

On 5th July 2023, the NHS celebrated its 75th birthday. As such, Unipart Logistics wanted to honour the fantastic work of the NHS, and demonstrate CARE for those Unipart colleagues who play a crucial role in supporting them, across the entire division.

We saw hundreds of colleagues coming together to observe a minute long clap, an ode to their fantastic work through the pandemic and beyond, including non-NHS sites such as Baginton, Nuneaton and Magna Park. Many colleagues chose to wear blue in support, as well as a colourful competition for children, the designs decorating our sites.

Cake wasn’t in short supply either, with NHS Coventry site creating a cake for every shift. NHS SC Runcorn and Gorsey Point shared theirs with Kristian Latham, Business Unit Director for the NHS, whilst NHS SC Suffolk Park also had a slice of the action!

Elsewhere in the contract, NHS SC Bridgwater held a Summer Family Fun Day, where over 200 attendees joined the celebrations and helped to raise over £1000 for their charity partner, Bridgwater Friends of Cancer Research UK.

It wouldn’t be a birthday without presents. NHS SC Suffolk Park pledged to support the NHS with a great gift they could think of - blood! The site have set themselves the challenge of gaining 75 pledges to donate blood to the NHS, in this 75th birthday year. Every person who pledges will be awarded a pledge certificate and contribute to our site total.

Thank you to everyone who made the extra effort to make this a great celebration. Extra praise to whoever made the Strawberry cake at Alfreton, I could have eaten it all.
