Go Wednesday - Hamandeep’s career recognised with Rising Star Award

Hamandeep Kaur, Customer Engagement Manager for Cowley, was awarded the Hireco Rising Star Award at the Supply Chain Excellence Awards 2023.

The annual ceremony recognises and rewards organisations and individuals around the world who demonstrate excellence in their supply chain operations. Hamandeep’s award is the accumulation of four years of enthusiasm and commitment at Unipart.

Hamandeep joined the Unipart Logistics’ two-year graduate scheme in 2019, and worked in multiple rotational placements across the business. With her first placement she created £70k worth of savings for a customer through an operational excellence activity, before moving on to an automotive client where she discovered a passion for supply chain.

When the UK went into lockdown, Hamandeep was selected to support the NHS Supply Chain as a Data Analyst, and played a vital role during a period of uncertainty when the NHS was under significant pressure.

During this time, Hamandeep delivered several digital dashboards, which drilled down into daily failures by supplier and service delivery, and produced a separate set of dashboards on providing live delivery data, enabling network optimisation.

Hamandeep then moved to support the Health Sector business development team, writing her first bid response, helping Unipart win a covid-test kitting e-commerce fulfilment services contract with Prenetics.

In just one year, Hamandeep contributed to three successful logistics tenders, including Airbus, and two successful consultancy tenders.

During this time, Hamandeep harnessed The Unipart Way power of continuous improvement by developing her research, finance, commercial, and project management skills.

She was able to gain experience of how best to deliver value and excellence for customers, which opened up a clear route into a customer account role, where she now manages operational and commercial relationships for several key customers.

Oliver Galea, Head of Fibre Delivery Hyperoptic, a key Unipart customer, said: “Since working with Hamandeep she has been very focussed on ‘us’ as the customer and making sure we can deliver for our customers.

“I have no doubt our business relationship will prosper and continue to grow and much of this comes down to Haman, her attitude, outside the box thinking, collaboration and wanting to develop both our business and Unipart’s.”

Going forward, Hamandeep aspires to continue her vast skill set within the supply chain industry, and continue to demonstrate how Unipart employees can always serve the real and perceived needs of the customer better than anyone else.
